Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)
Are you a candidate for Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy?
Take a quiz and find out!

Balanced hormone levels allow our bodies to function properly in ways we mostly take for granted. As we age, we
produce fewer hormones which, for the past 60 years, doctors have been able to supplement from other sources both
natural and synthetic. Estrogen therapy, for example, has been used to treat symptoms of menopause since 1930. At
Restorative Health we use bioidentical hormones to treat hormonal imbalance just as we use bioavailable supplements
to remedy nutritional imbalance.
When hormones become imbalanced and the levels become too low, you experience various symptoms based upon which
hormone is deficient. Some typical symptoms include;
- hot flashes
- night sweats
- insomnia
- increased fatigue
- irritability
- depression
- skin changes
- vaginal dryness
- urinary incontinence
At Restorative Health, before you begin Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) we undertake the
following procedures to insure your health and safety:
Your initial visit will be with Dr. Safayan. He will assess your candidacy for BHRT and may order
laboratories or request diagnostic studies from your gynecologist such as a mammogram, PAP smear or DEXA
scan. He may then request that you follow up for a complete physical exam prior to your referral to Dr. Threlkel
who will then manage your care from that point on. She will take an in-depth history to try to identify underlying
factors causing the hormonal imbalance and may also recommend specialty hormone testing. Often treatment will be
a multi-level approach as hormones function best when they work in harmony.
Please understand that although your first visit with Dr. Safayan may be covered by insurance, Dr. Threlkel is not
a participating provider for any insurance company, so payment is required at the time of service. A superbill will
be provided to you, which you can then submit for reimbursement.
